Diversifying My Portfolio

I'm in school, race driving school. Trying to take my talent to the next level. The first session went well, I didn't foul out of the simulators like many before me, but I didn't do that well either. Lots of info was handed out, a new way of thinking was formed. Stiffer+Narrower+lighter=Faster. In an effort to train outside of my studies and school regimen I have been set up with many different cars over the course of the next few weeks to see if there is any broad range improvement. Here goes nothing.

Return Once More

The key was turned. Relays clicked. Dust was shrugged off, and slowly old gears began to come to life. Skills that long lay dormant, some atrophied beyond beyond repair, began to resurface. I ran long and I ran hard. 1989 Honda CRX. 14 inch gas saver tires. 5500 RPM rev limit. 60 horsepower on a good day. Still faster than 99% that go up into the hills. Today was a good day.

Once More into the Fray

Back on the hill with an 89 240sx I helped build. Its not technically a shake down run because the car was dialed in(of sorts) before I got my hands on it. Never-the-less I will be in it for a full week and will be trying to get tune out some of the bugs as prep for the next stage of the build. The car itself is very capable, but built for the smoothest of tracks. Since 35 is almost the complete opposite of that, this current run will be interesting. First up was a 13.06. I'll see what I can do to better that.

Back in the game

After much time was spent watching and waiting, and many nights were spent planning the next wave of attack the next project is starting to take shape. I have the time, the money, and the inclination to get started, all I need is a willing candidate. Only the right one will do. Here is the current proposal set in stages. It is not yet complete, the b rake system has yet to be designed, but it should only take a bit more research to put the finishing touches on this one. The Porsche just needs a clutch before it gets on the street and once it does, it will be the base line vehicle to to beat.

These will be checked off one by one as this develops and each stage will be completed and cataloged before moving to the next. The current goal is the same as the previous, run 8 minutes and 35 seconds on Hwy 35 South through Woodside, though after some other data acquisition not previously entered I believe that this can be achieved easier than I assumed previously and I also think a well tuned Miata can run the course much faster than 8:30. I am to achieve both. And then the final tuning stage with a built MR-S will begin.
